Meet Eva Monheim. She is the author of Shrubs & Hedges: Discover, Grow, and Care for the World's Most Popular Plants a book that was inspired by her years of teaching woody plants as an assistant professor at Temple University in the department of landscape architecture and horticulture. A principal of VEE – Verdant Earth Educators, LLC – Eva and her colleague train green industry professionals and homeowners using sustainable management practices to help clients reach a carbon neutral environment. They also write landscape management plans, curriculum for the green industry, and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). An award-winning educator, Eva teaches at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania for the Professional Horticulture Program and for the Continuing Education Department. Professionally trained, Monheim holds degrees from the Pennsylvania State University in horticulture and art, and from Arcadia University with a master’s degree in English literature. While completing her master’s thesis in English, Eva won the prestigious Ambassadorial Scholarship through Rotary International. She spent an academic year at the University of Reading in England where she worked on her master's in horticulture while completing her thesis on how landscapes affect the minds of writers. Eva’s experience in England, reinforced her global appreciation of garden design and environmental sensitivity. Eva is a Certified Arborist® through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), a master floral designer, a certified tree steward, photographer, and artist. She holds memberships in ISA, the American Horticultural Society (AHS), the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), the Hardy Plant Society/Mid-Atlantic Group (HPS/MAG), the International Dendrology Society (IDS), Women in Horticulture - Delaware Valley (WinH), Garden Communicators International (GardenComm), and the Urban Wood Network (UWN). Monheim’s articles, designs, and photographs have appeared in national, regional, and local magazines, as well as newspapers. She also had her own garden column for The Philadelphia Inquirer. Monheim has a weekly podcast - The Plant a Trillion Trees Podcast which features guests from around the globe. The purpose of the podcast is discuss all things trees and how they can be one of the answers to the climate crisis. The podcast is in 100 countries with over 225,000 listeners.
