If you want to change the mood of your garden, you might want to consider color first. Softer cool colors create a restful feeling in the garden, while the opposite colors create vibrance and activity in the landscape. Which one better suits your desire? Come explore the psychological benefits of color in the garden.

The Morris Arboretum Fall Classes 2008
Creating an Intimate Garden
Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania, 100 Northwestern Avenue,
Philadelphia, PA 19118
Just because you have a small space doesn’t mean that you can’t have a wonderful garden filled with a great assortment of plants throughout the seasons. Walled gardens or garden rooms provide microclimates that create many plant selection options. In fact, small gardens can enhance the opportunity to add striking foliage textures, subtle color palettes, and fragrance to the garden. In addition, an intimate garden provides a perfect, relaxing retreat away from the hectic pace of everyday life. In this lecture and walk through the Arboretum gardens we will discuss plant choices including perennials, ground covers, and cool season vegetables that work great as fall garden highlights. We will also consider shrubs and small trees as well as garden accents, water features and furnishings.
Course Fee $25.00 – Members $30 – Non-members. For more information, contact Jan McFarlan at 215-247-5777 Ext.156 or e-mail at jlm@pobox.upenn.edu
